I started out just strumming some chords in Open G tuning and built upon that. For the lyrics, I mixed together two song ideas I had laying around into what is featured here.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Sitting on the corner, a cup on the ground
Playin' my guitar to the people around
They ignore me, and they even spit into my face
Money is nice, but I just wanna play
But all these people want me to go away
They see me as a bum, just a disgrace
Chorus 1:
Maybe they'll be happy when I'm gone
Verse 2:
Why should I bother, just what is the point
All I've ever done is just disappoint
Maybe I should just up and disappear
Tired of learnin' all the rules of the game
Let me fade away and forget my name
Don't want you all to know that I was ever here
Chorus 2:
I hope you'll forget me when I'm gone
Another faded memory in the dawn
I don't want you to miss me when I'm gone
Burn my works, and erase all of my songs
Bridge:
I will push away my very few friends
'Cause I want them to forget about me
Want their memories to be totally cleansed
Of my presence, everything that I be
Chorus 3:
Can't you just forget me when I'm gone
I don't want your misery to be long
I hope you'll forget me when I'm gone
I hope that you will throw away this here song
